THE CLIENT
Liza Jenkins made her career managing crises for impossible clients, none more enigmatic than Caspar Finch—a reclusive bestselling horror author known for refusing interviews and demanding full creative control. When Caspar invited her to Moxie Manor, his home in Moxahala, Ohio. She assumed it was to rebrand his legacy ahead of a major film adaptation.
Instead, he handed her a burlap sack and said:
"You’ll need this if you want to protect yourself here."
Inside was a miniature amulet container
THE WHISPERS IN THE WALLS
When she opened it, the amulet was ice-cold. Inside lay a burnt fabric scrap and a flake of something white—bone or ash, maybe. That night in the guest suite, Liza heard tapping inside the walls. Soft humming. A whisper that repeated:
“Don’t look in the mirror.”
She began losing hours but Caspar wouldn’t speak of it.
Digging through his study, she found his manuscript-in-progress titled: “The One Who Carried Calvera.” It wasn’t fiction. It told the story of Sister Calvera, a 19th-century nun who burned herself alive in St. Pious Church. Later, an unknown person sealed a scrap of her burnt fabric inside a holy amulet.
THE VANISHING
On the third night, Caspar reported seeing Eliza sitting in the hallway at 3:13 AM—facing the wall, humming. When he approached, she vanished. The next morning, he found her room empty.
According to author Caspar Finch there was no signs of struggle. Her phone was still charging in the outlet and the amulet was placed carefully on the pillow, sealed again, and as cold as death.
Eliza was never found.
Some say that Caspar has something to do with her disappreance. We’ll let you decide!
To this day, Moxie Manor’s guests report humming in the west wing and seeing a woman in a blazer and pearls whispering to herself—only to blink and find her gone.
The amulet was last seen locked in a case in Moxie Manor’s study, with a warning carved into the wood. But is sister Calvera still inside or is it Eliza? An who might be next?
